The Sweet-Voiced Bird Has Flown: Portraits of Common Birds in Decline
March 4 – August 14, 2011
A collaboration by the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators Finger Lakes Chapter and the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, this special art exhibition explores birds that are experiencing population declines. Each of the twenty artists in the exhibition has created a color painting and a monochrome sketch of a bird species in decline. The paintings shows the birds in their native, undisturbed habitat, while the sketches show the birds alongside the environmental pressures that have caused their decline. Free with NYSCI admission
